Rad Air Tire Replacement

How to Extend the Life of Your Tires

In many ways, your car’s tires do the hardest work—they actually keep the car moving down the road. Ignoring your tires can be bad news for your vehicle and can lead to premature tire replacement. These tips will help you extend the life of your tires.

Check the pressure. Get into the habit of checking your tires’ pressure regularly, particularly after a dramatic shift in temperature or when temperatures drop below freezing. Always check before embarking on a long trip or drive. You can buy a tire gauge to check the pressure at home or take your car to the air machine at a local gas station. Make sure to keep tires inflated to the manufacturer’s recommendations, which should be visible on the tires themselves.

Don’t miss scheduled tire rotations and alignments. Bring your car to your local Rad Air or auto repair shop when it is time for a tire rotation and an alignment. Tires need to be rotated approximately every 5,000 to 8,000 miles.

Keep an eye on tread depth. Driving a car with bald tires is extremely dangerous. Check your tire tread depth, measured from the top of the tire tread to the deepest groove. Not sure how to check? Try the penny test.
