Two basic forces make up your brakes, the hydraulic forces and the mechanical forces.

The hydraulic components in today’s brake systems, such as the master cylinder, ABS control module, brake booster and brake lines, cause a force of brake fluid through the lines to the mechanical components, such as the calipers, wheel cylinders, rotors / drums, brake shoes or brake pads.  This pressure of fluid causes the pistons inside the calipers or wheel cylinders to push against the brake shoes / pads causing them to drag against the rotors or drums, hence stopping your car.   If any of these components fail to work properly, your brakes will fail to stop your car properly.  Studies show that using high quality parts and having them installed properly ensures the best and shortest stopping brake systems. When inches or feet make a difference between your car stopping safely or having an accident, the quality of your brakes should not be overlooked.
